Settings

Every page and switch in Veda's window, in order. Changes save as you make them — there's no Save button.

On this page

Open Veda's window from the menu bar (Mac) or system tray (Windows): click the sparkle, then Settings…. The sidebar has eight pages, and your Veda version at the bottom. Every change saves as you make it (on a Mac, a quiet "Saved" appears in the toolbar).

AI & usage

How much you've used — or, on a licence, your own keys.

On the trial and Veda Pro: your plan, requests used, what's left, a chart of rewrites per day for the last 30 days, and where you use Veda this month (counted on your computer only).

On a Veda Licence:

SettingWhat it does
AnsweringWhich provider answered last — so a silent fallback is never invisible.
This month / RequestsPaid spend and number of requests this month.
Monthly capThe most Veda will spend on paid providers in a month ($2 by default). At the cap it uses free providers only. Reset zeroes the counter.
Order of preferenceOpenAI, Groq and Gemini. The highest one with a working key answers; the rest are fallbacks.
API key / ModelPer provider. Get a key links to the provider. Test key checks it for free.
ThinkingOpenAI only: None (fastest), Low, Medium or High.

Plan

Your plan, licence and billing. See Plans & billing.

  • Your plan — trial days and rewrites left, or your Veda Pro / Licence details.
  • Manage subscription (Veda Pro) — opens the Paddle customer portal.
  • Remove from this Mac / PC (paid plans) — frees the key's slot and signs this computer out.
  • Subscribe monthly / Yearly / Buy a licence — when you don't have an active paid plan.
  • Already bought one? — paste a licence key and click Activate.

Privacy

What leaves your computer, and what never does. See Privacy.

  • Where your words go — a diagram of the path your text takes on your plan.
  • What's kept, and where — on your computer (with Show folder) and on Veda's server.
  • Usage data — Share anonymous usage data, on by default: "Helps us find bugs and see which features work. Includes which app you used Veda in, the feature, timings and errors — never your text, voice or keys." Turn it off and nothing more is sent. Reports you send yourself include the text you choose to share. See Usage data.
  • Forget everything learned — deletes saved samples and clears the learned profile. About you stays.

The menu-bar and tray panel

Click the sparkle in the menu bar or tray for a quick panel: status (Ready, Working, Paused or Needs permission), the Last action with Report last result under it (see Reporting a bad result), learning progress, your plan and usage, an update banner when there's a new version, and Settings…, Check for updates, Launch at login and Quit Veda. On Windows it also has Keep Veda visible on the taskbar.
