Installation
Download Veda for macOS or Windows and get it running. Both are a couple of minutes, and there's nothing to configure.
On this page
Veda runs on Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 26 or newer, and on 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. Download it from getveda.app — the file is Veda.dmg for Mac and Veda.exe for Windows.
Mac
- Open
Veda.dmgand drag Veda into Applications. - Open Veda from Applications. macOS will say it can't verify the developer. Click Done, then open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway.
- Grant Accessibility. Veda asks on first launch. If you missed it, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and switch Veda on. This is how Veda reads the field you're typing in and puts the result back — it's the one permission it needs. There's no need to restart; Veda notices within a couple of seconds.
- Look for the sparkle in your menu bar. Click it any time for status, Settings, updates and Launch at login.
That's it — your trial has already started. Put your cursor in any text field and tap right ⌥ Option.
Windows
- Run
Veda.exe. SmartScreen will show "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway. - It installs itself. On first run Veda copies itself to
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Veda, adds a Start Menu entry, and sets itself to start with Windows. There's no admin prompt. You can delete the file you downloaded. - Find the sparkle in the system tray. Veda has no main window — it lives in the tray. On Windows 11, new tray icons start out hidden behind the ^ arrow. To keep Veda visible, click the tray icon and choose Keep Veda visible on the taskbar, which opens the taskbar settings where you can switch it on.
- Tap Right Ctrl in any text field. Your trial is already running.
There's no permission to grant on Windows: Veda reads the focused field through UI Automation, which needs no special access.
Updates
Veda checks for a new version once a day and shows a banner in its menu-bar or tray panel when there is one. It never downloads or installs anything on its own — you click the banner, download the new file, and run it:
- Mac: drag the new Veda into Applications, replacing the old one. macOS usually asks for Accessibility again after an update, because the permission is tied to the app's signature. Toggle Veda off and on in Privacy & Security → Accessibility and the key works straight away.
- Windows: run the new
Veda.exe. It replaces the installed copy, and offers to close Veda first if it's running.
You can also click Check for updates in the panel at any time.
Uninstalling
- Mac: quit Veda from its menu-bar panel and drag it from Applications to the Trash.
- Windows: use Settings → Apps like any other program.
Your settings and learned writing style are left in place in case you reinstall. They live in ~/Library/Application Support/Veda/ on a Mac and %AppData%\Veda\ on Windows.
