Moving to a new computer
Take your plan — and, if you like, About you and your learned writing style — to a new Mac or PC.
Move your plan
- On the old computer: open Settings → Plan and click Remove from this Mac (or Remove from this PC). This frees your key's slot.
- On the new computer: install Veda, then paste your key into Settings → Plan and click Activate. See Licence keys.
If the old computer is gone and you can't remove it there, activating on the new one still works as long as the key has a free slot. A key works on up to 3 computers at a time. If it says the key is already active on as many devices as it allows, write to nitin.rai@getveda.app from the address you paid with and we'll free a slot.
Bring your writing style (optional)
About you, your notes, the learned profile and writing samples live in files on the old computer — they're never stored on our server, so they don't follow you automatically. To bring them across:

- Install Veda on the new computer and open it once, so the folder exists.
- Quit Veda from its menu-bar or tray panel.
- Copy the files above from the old computer's folder into the same folder on the new one, replacing what's there.
- Open Veda again.
The Show folder button on Veda's Privacy page opens this folder for you.
What doesn't move
- API keys (on a licence) are kept in the Mac Keychain or Windows' encrypted store, so add them again in Settings → AI & usage.
- Settings like your trigger key and presets are quick to set again — the trigger key is different on Mac and Windows anyway.
- Usage history — the Home heatmap and weekly recap start fresh.
