Adding your key
After activating your licence, open Settings → AI & usage. You'll see three providers in order of preference:

Click a provider and paste its key. Veda checks your keys when you open the page, and Test key checks again — the check costs nothing. Add more than one and the others become fallbacks: the highest one with a working key answers, and if it fails, the next one does. Use the arrows to change the order.
For OpenAI you can also pick the model and how much thinking it does — None (fastest), Low, Medium or High.
A cap on what you spend
Because OpenAI is paid, Veda keeps a running total of this month's spend from the usage each provider reports, and stops at a monthly cap you set on the AI & usage page — $2 unless you change it. At the cap, Veda skips paid providers and carries on with your free ones. It's worth setting a hard limit in your OpenAI account as well.
Your keys stay on your computer
Keys are kept in the macOS Keychain or, on Windows, encrypted with Windows' own data protection. They're never sent to Veda's server — Veda talks to your provider directly.
Voice on a licence
Dictation needs a provider that can turn speech into text: Groq (tried first, free) or OpenAI. Gemini can't. See Voice dictation.
